New Mobile App for iOS and Android Devices Delivers CMO Council News, Events and Content to On-the-Move Chief Marketing Officers
PALO ALTO, Calif. (May 9, 2013)—The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council has partnered with leading mobile relationship management group, FunMobility, to develop the first mobile news app for the CMO Council. Designed to deliver updated news, information and resources for on-the-go marketers, the app will provide users with access to reports, news articles and event information. The iOS and Android versions are available for download and feature three key sections:
“When we first began looking into developing an app, everything new and interactive caught our eye, making it difficult to focus on the app strategy,” said Liz Miller, Vice President of Marketing Programs for the CMO Council. “But we had to step back and ‘drink our own champagne,’ so to speak. In the “Engage at Every Stage” study, we revealed that far too often mobile apps are developed in a vacuum and are not linked to the overarching content marketing and relationship strategy. So working with FunMobility, we took that strategic step back and asked how we hoped users would engage and to what end. This brought us back to the core of the CMO Council: the peer-powered content that our members access every day.”
Plans are already in the works for additional connectivity and engagement functions that can further member engagement and access to marketing content, research and intelligence. Based on initial feedback from CMO Council Advisory Board members who had the opportunity to beta-test the app, access to content and news will be a convenient and useful tool. The CMO Council app will also enable interactive pop-up mobile surveys, providing a fascinating live window into the specialized, collective knowledge, opinions and insights of the CMO Council community.
“The app—available through both the Android Marketplace and the iTunes Store—provides a new way for us to deliver and also aggregate insights from marketing peers,” Miller added. “As we deploy these polls, temperature-takers or maybe even a game or two, we will be able to track, measure and review the performance of each campaign without having to call in all of the developers to deploy, measure and extract information.”
Thanks to the flexible and highly adaptable AppWidget live mobile publishing platform developed by FunMobility, the CMO Council app will be able to grow and expand without the need for constant resubmissions as it continues to generate new opportunities to engage and connect. Updating and pushing news, alerts, polls and other ways to engage through app to person messaging is as simple as setting up a campaign.
